Singtam District Hospital is one of the finest Hospital in the city, Singtam District in Singtam, Gangtok. The hospital is located centrally in Singtam, a prominent locality in the city. It stands close to Near Golitar which not only makes it convenient for people from the vicinity to consult the doctor but also for those from other neighbourhoods to seek medical guidance. There is no dearth of public modes of transport to reach the clinic from all major areas of the city.
As per the Feasibility Assessment report conducted on 28th June 2018, the Drug Treatment Clinic (DTC) was established at Centre for Addiction Medicine, Chuwatar, West Pandam, East Sikkim in the year 2019 under the scheme “Enhancing the functioning of Drug De Addiction Centres (DACs)”, under the sponsorship of Drug De-Addiction Program, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (DDAP, MOH&FW). National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre (NDDTC), All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), New Delhi as the National Resource Centre and Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, Manipur as the Regional Resource Coordinating Centre (RRCC) with support from DDAP, MOH&FW. The hospital is an innovative endeavour of Dept. of Health & Family Welfare, Govt of Sikkim that offers both inpatient and OPD treatment for only substance use disorders. The infrastructure consists of 3 storey RCC building with fencing comprising of outpatient block, inpatients wards, and class rooms including volleyball court, and organic garden to engage the patients in rehabilitation programs.
DTC Singtam has a separate dedicated contractual staff comprises of a Medical Officer, a Counselor and a Nurse. Dr. Satish Rasaily, Psychiatrist is looking after the functioning of DTC as Nodal Officer. The contractual staffs were recruited through Walk-in-interview with reputed board members of the district hospital comprised with Chief Medical Officer of the District Hospital. All the DTC staff including 2 back up staff (Counsellor & Nurse) and other 2 nursing staff of Centre for Addiction Medicine have received Induction Training held from 25th -29th May 2021, organized by NDDTC AIIMS, New Delhi.
