Regional centres or Regional Resource and Coordinating are established at Department of Psychiatry at a reputed medical institute in western and eastern geographical regions. Therefore, Department of Psychiatry, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS, Imphal) and Department of Psychiatry, King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEM, Mumbai). Both these centres already have a functional de-addiction centre established by DDAP. Department of Psychiatry, KEM hospital also functions as a resource centre for the west zone for training program for medical officers under the NFCDA (Ministry of Finance) funded project. Moreover, they are also act as a Regional Technical Training centre (west zone) for project Hifazat for training of staff working under National AIDS Control Program. Similarly, Department of Psychiatry, RIMS acts as the resource centre for Northeast zone for both these programs.
Both the regional centres coordinate with NDDTC in establishing and maintaining DTCs in their own geographical regions including capacity-building, monitoring, evaluation exercises and sending monthly progress report to NDDTC.
