Strategy and Action Plan for strengthening DDAP
The scheme is coordinated at the National level by NDDTC, AIIMS under the financial support of DDAP, MOH&FW. As a National coordinating centre, NDDTC, AIIMS has a two-fold responsibility. One is identifying health facilities, which already have an infrastructure to run the proposed drug treatment centres and will be able to provide out-patient care for all type of substance use disorders. Second, identification and setting up of centres designated as “Regional Resource and Coordinating Centres”, which will further be responsible for establishing, mentoring and supervising other drug treatment centres in their regions.
Future Plan
The ultimate aim is to establish at least one Drug Treatment Clinic (DTC) in all of the districts in the country. At present, the target is to have at least 22 new centres by the March 2017.
