DTC & Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh

DTC scheme involves taking steps to enhance the functioning of de-addiction centres across the country through setting up of new drug treatment clinics or enhancing the functioning of existing de-addiction centres. DTC, Department of psychiatry, AMCH, Dibrugarh is the only DTC in the entire state of Assam. It was started in August 2018. Dr. Dhrubajyoti Bhuyan, Associate Professor, Department of Psychiatry, AMCH is the Nodal Officer of the DTC. Three contractual staffs are- Dr. Pinky Poddar (Medical Officer), Namita Sonowal (Nurse) and Priyanka Borah (Counsellor).

DTC provides management of all the substance use disorders mainly on out-patient treatment basis. Some of the services are- Methadone Maintenance Treatment (MMT), detoxification from all drugs of use, long-term pharmacological management, smoking cessation, individual & family counseling, group therapy, referral to inpatient care if required, referral to other medical specialties and rehabilitation services.
