Drug Treatment Clinic (DTC), Thoubal had seen established association to the District Hospital Thoubal in the year 2016 under the RRCC, Dept. of Psychiatry, RIMS, Imphal for “Enhancing the functioning of Drug De-addiction Centres (DDAC)” funded by Drug De-Addiction Programmes (DDAP), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, New Delhi Co-ordinated by National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre (NDDTC), AIIMS, New Delhi along with other two DTCs at District Hospital Bishnupur and District Hospital, Churachandpur

DTC Thoubal has its own dedicated contractual staff recruited through RRCC, RIMS i.e. 1- Medical Officer, 1-Counsellor and 1-Nurse working under Dr. W. Ruhinikumar Singh who is the current Nodal Officer and Dr. N. Hemantakumar Singh, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital, Thoubal who is looking after the overall functioning of the Clinic. Induction training of the contractual staff of all the established DTCs, was conducted from 1st – 5th August, 2016 at RRCC, Department of Psychiatry, RIMS, Imphal. DTC Thoubal started functioning from August, 2016. Since then, the Clinic has been managing all kinds of substance use disorders on an outpatient basis. Opioid and Alcohol Dependence are the two main substance use disorders being treated.
Services provided in DTC OPD – 1. Detoxification - with Benzodiazepine for alcohol, BZD dependence. with Tab BPN for opioid dependence. 2. Maintenance – with opioid Agonist (MMT) with opioid Antagonist (Tab. Naltrexone – 50mgs) with Tab. Disulfiram 250mgs – Alcohol dependence 3. Management of other substance use disorders (Tobacco, Cannabis, Inhalants, etc.) 4. Regular follow up of the patients. 5. Individual counselling (Brief Intervention, MET, RP, etc.); Family counselling; Group counselling session. 6. Referral services – Referral for hospitalization, Referral to other medical specialities, OST Centres, other DTCs, ART Centres, Laboratories for investigations, Rehabilitation Centres, other Organisations (CBO-CoNE, MNP+, etc.).
