Navjeevan Kendra (Drug De-toxification and Treatment Centre) was started in September 2007, within the premises of District Hospital, Kapurthala. as a unique coordinated initiatives by District Administration, Health department and Red Cross Society, Gen. (Retd.) S.F.Rodrigues,PVSM, VSM, His Excellency, Governor of Punjab inaugurated the centre. The Psychiatrist working in District Hospital Kapurthala has been given the additional charge to look after the patients admitted in the centre.

The Navjeevan Kendra was selected by UNODC, New Delhi for their pilot project on MMT (Methadone Maintenance therapy) after thorough evaluation of its functioning. The MMT project was launched in Feb 2012, with this, Navjeevan Kendra become first centre in India to start MMT Project. On Successful completion of pilot study, MMT project has been taken over by the Department of Health, Government of India, New Delhi.

DTC regularly Individual counselling sessions , Group sessions and Weekly Family meetings .Along with this regular follow-ups of clients are conducted with Nodal officer every month to assure complete well being of clients and to solve problems of clients, if any. Our centre maintains complete confidentiality for Male as well as Female clients coming for treatment.
